Hello, my name is Philippe Sainte-Laudy. I live in the Jura. The rest of the time, I'm out with my Komondor, Maddy and my camera: light, forests, wide spaces.
Nature photography is my job. The puukko is my obsession.
The knives are always fascinated. It's called it. cultllupilia. In my home, she has a Northern accent: short blade, grind scandi, handle birch, bark or reindeer wood. A simple, robust tool — like the cultures that carried it.
Why this site
puukko.fr is not a shop. I don't buy, I don't sell, I don't pay middleman. I show pieces, I tell artisans, I explain how choose, sharpen, maintain, handle and secure. Just a passionate opinion. I say what I see. I also say what I don't know.
I found these knives on a trip, mainly in Scandinavia, in workshops, shops, sometimes at auction. I have a weakness for reindeer wood sámi puukkos. Each blade has a hand behind it. The site is used to transmit it — and highlight Those who still forge by hand.
What I do here
Useful guides. Portraits of artisans. History, Lexicon, Regulation. Photos. A newsletter. Open contact.
What I Love
Collaborations with a name and face: artisans, workshops, magazines, associations, trade fairs, ready images with clear credit. Time rather than the sponsored link.
What I refuse
The ad in disguise. Copies « Sami » dubious. Requests for estimates to resell within the week.
The framework
The puukko is a tool, not a weapon. In France, holding him is free for a major. Carrying it out of the home requires legitimate motive and consistent storage. I repeat this often: a respected tool is stored, maintained, and is not allowed to leave within reach of a child.
Write
Be precise from the object: question, opinion on a knife, collaboration. Net photos (lame, handle, sheath, marks). I read everything. I answer as soon as the Jura leaves me a moment calm. contact(at)puukko.fr
Photograph
In a parallel life, I am a professional photographer, specialized in nature photography. You can visit my site here : naturephotography.com – I also enjoy photographing my puukkos.
Thanks for the visit and good reading.
Warm regards,
