Heimo Roselli had enough of the bad puukkos. Since 1976, his small forges from Harmoinen have been out of the tools in carbon. Long wire, handle birch, authenticity.

History of the company Roselli
Forge since 1974, Self-taught. Brand founded in 1975/1976 (Roselli retained 1976). Model 1: Eräpuukko, thought of for the hunters d'élan. Form almost unchanged for 50 years.
First knife from Vinnilä workshop. Later, a large hammer-pilon recovered in Rautpohja (Jyväskylä): too greedy for the Kuhmoinen network. Heimo only used it after 11 p.m. to avoid cuts.
Place unchanged: Harmoinen (Kuhmoinen), Rosellintie. ~10–12 people. Current majority shareholder: Pasi Helin. Heimo (born around 1941) came every morning to the factory at 81. Family arrived from Italy in the 14th century. Export ~20 countries.
Son of farmers: fishing, hunting, DIY. The knives in the trade didn't hold. Philosophy: first tool — « one puukko Fish is not better if it has the shape of a fish ». Forty years for « find » on sheath. Everything is in Finland: steel, birch, vegetable tanned leather.
Unsatisfied with the steels of the trade, it passes ~eight years to develop a modern version of wootz, first sold « Roselli Wootz »Today UHC (secret receipt, patent). Classic line: Krupp W75. Little forge, no show. Part by piece control, name burned in the handle.
Slogan: One Knife for Life. Life warranty (material/manufacture defects). Sharpening free at factory, chargeable port.

Three models are enough. In this order: the most identity, the most useful, the most compact.
(1) Eräpuukko (Hunting) — R100 / RW200.
First Roselli, 1976. Blade ~10.5 cm. Hunting, body, camp. Advise the W75 (R100) first purchase. UHC (RW200) if the long wire counts more than the ease of sharpening. Long version (14 cm): large game. Full tang: stronger, heavier; Not the first choice.
2) Carpenter (Nikkarinpuukko) — R110 / RW210.
The puukko « pure ». Often the one we keep. Serves at: size, camp, forest EDC, small game. More versatile everyday than the Eräpuukko. Shape: right blade, scandi ~17°, back 90°, 3 mm. Measures: blade ~85 mm; width ~21 mm; Total ~200 mm; handle ~110–115 mm; weight ~60–75 g. Handle birch, flax oil, light crouched apple. Very good wet.
- R110 W75 (~120 €) : first Carpenter.
- RW210 UHC (~178 €) : long wire, diamond.
- Full tang (R110F): Harder, heavier use.
If you only take a Roselli for the forest: Carpenter W75.
3) Grandfather (Vaarinpuukko) — R121/RW220.
Blade ~7–7.5 cm, a little ventruous. Small game, precision, light belt. W75 first, then UHC.

Most common issues
UHC or W75?
- W75 (~0,8 % C, ~60 HRC): easy to sharpen, natural stone. Good first Roselli.
- UHC (~1,8–2 % C, ~62–64 HRC): much longer yarn, sharpening Diamond, more breaking if we twist the blade.
Should the blade be oiled?
Yes. It's not from the stainless steel. Dry after use (blood, onion, rain), fine oil before use sheath. The patina Dark is normal, not a defect.
How to sharpen?
- W75: natural stone or diamond, all bevel scandi Not just the wire.
- UHC: diamond or ceramic. Do not wait until it is dead: small reminders often. The factory sharpens for free (charged port).
Hidden silk or full tang?
The classics (R110, R100, R121) are hidden silk, sufficient for hunting, size and camp. Full tang is stiffer and heavier. Useful in hard use, not mandatory.
The sheath Is it reliable?
Vegetable tanned leather + plastic insert. Retention varies according to batch: too loose or too tight at first. To be checked. This is not the strong point of the brand.
What does the guarantee cover?
For life: material and manufacturing defects. No wire wear, no batoning, twisting, lever, home repair. Wood and leather: natural deviations not covered.
What model to start with?
One knife for the forest: Carpenter W75 (R110).
Hunting/removal priority: Eräpuukko W75 (R100).
Light belt / small game : Grandfather (R121).

The Roselli brand has built its reputation on an exceptional durability, thanks to a steel that is both harder and sharper than anything before.
Conclusion
At Roselli, we buy three things: a serious yarn (especially in UHC), one of the best handles of puukko « Series », and a rare after-sales (guarantee + sharpening plant).
We accept the rest: rust if we neglect it, sharpening more demanding in UHC, sheath sometimes average, price above a Mora or a simple Marttiini. The right profile: hunting, bushcraft, size — Someone who wants a knife to live on, not a collection. For this audience, the Carpenter W75 remains the right choice; If the game leads the dance, I-UHC upscale, not reflex. It's not « the best puukko world ». It is one of the most coherent when you want the Finnish tool, the carbon, and a brand that still assumes the little forge.
